Best summer homework ever

This is the end of the school year, and before we all start our deserved holidays, I would like you to read the original homework handed in to pupils by an Italian teacher.

It is the list of things his pupils must do for the summer.

1- In the morning, now and then, walk by yourself along the seashore.Look at how the sun reflects on the water, thinking of the things you like best in life and feel happy.

2- Try to use all the new words you have learnt this year. You will be able to say more things, you will think about more things, and the more you think, the freer you will feel.

3-Read as much as posible. No because you have to. Read because the summer inspires you adventures and dreams. By reading, you will feel as the birds flying. Read because it is the best form of rebellion.

4-Avoid all the things, situations and people that make you feel negative and empty.Look for stimulating situations and friends that appreciate and understand you for being who you are.

5- If you feel sad and scared, don't worry. The summer, as all the big things, disrupts your soul. Try to write a diary where you can write about your feelings ( and in September, if you like, we can read it together)

6- Dance, without feeling embarrassed.On the street, near your house or in your bedroom. Summer is a dance. It would be a pity not to take part of it.

7- At least once, you have to see the dawn. Stand there quiet and breathe. Close your eyes, grateful.
8-Do a lot of sport.

9-If you like a person a lot, tell him/ her with all the sincerity and grace you are able to. It doesn't matter whether he/she understands it or not. If it is not mutual, then it wasn't foreseen that he /she would be part of your destiny. On the contrary, the 2015 summer is a great oportunity to walk together ( if it does not work, go back to point 8)

10- Remember what you have learnt at high school and revise your notes

11-Be happy as the sun, untameable as the sea.

12-Don't use foul language. Be always extremely polite and kind.

13- Enjoy movies with emotive dialogues, above all in English. This will help you improve your linguistic skills and your chances to dream. Don't let a movie finish with the credits. Live the experience throughout the summer.

14- At daytime and at night, dream about what your life could be like.During the summer, gather strength not to give in and do your best to pursue that dream.

Microfiction contest winners

We are delighted to announce the three pupils going for the final in the Microfiction Contest 2015 organised by the English Department for the high school's Book Day.

On the 24th of June we will reveal the name of the winner who will receive an award of an Fnac purchase card.

All the contestants will be given a little present as a reminder of their participation in the contest.

                   THEIR LIVES' BOOK

                     "They looked into their eyes, in their hands they had the book of their history, the
                    history of their lives. Both were afraid of what was written, but they should 
                    carry on. They thought it was time to open it and read it, but they did not
                    like the end, so they decided to rewrite it. "

                                                                        THE BOOK

                  "There was a book.  The book lived in a library because he had a dream,

                 reading a book, but he couldn't do it because he was a book!. 
                 One day he decided to place opposite a mirror and read himself. 
                 At the end of the book he died. His dream had come true."

THE SOCERER'S DREAM

                "Running under the rain, a boy was trying to hide an enormous codex, 

                 when suddenly it cover started shining in a blue energy. He felt something cold

                 at his nape, and heard the sound of a shot, which made him violently wake up,

                 inside a completely dark hole. The boy punched the ground angrily, and his fist

                 shined in the same blue energy."

         The final decision was very difficult due to  the quality and imagination of the stories presented. Nevertheless, there was one story that really impressed us. 

     

        The first prize was for Jorge Pargada and we made bookmarkers for all the contestants and winners with the story printed on them. Well-done Jorge, Violeta and Guayén, second and third prizes! and congratulations to all the contestants and thank you for your participation !                    

 

Peonza de Plata Premio Espiral Edublogs IX Edición "Blogs de Centros Educativos"

Espiral es una asociación sin ánimo de lucro compuesta por profesores en activo que saben mucho de tecnología y educación , probablemente los que más de este país. Los Premios Espiral Edublogs tienen el objetivo de valorar el trabajo oculto de muchos docentes que hacen cosas espléndidas y creen en que "otra escuela es posible". 
 

La entrega de premios estuvo precedida por una interesantísima charla  inaugural al cargo de Jaume Josa Fenés:  Profe, tu cliente no te entiende. La comunicación en el cole , en la que con humor nos hizo reflexionar  sobre la necesidad de respetar la cultura e intereses de los jóvenes si queremos que se interesen por lo que transmitimos y comunicamos en clase. También subrayó la necesidad de preparar a los chavales para la sociedad actual donde el éxito no siempre está asociado al éxito "propiamente escolar". Hay muchos tipos de habilidades e inteligencias y debemos fomentar y apoyar cada uno de ellos.

En la ceremonia de entrega de premios vi mucha emoción y sentimientos al recibir una pequeña peonza de oro, plata o bronce en docentes con muchos años de experiencia, alumnos de primaria agradeciendo a su maestra el trabajo y la dedicación, adolescentes iniciando su propia andadura personal en el mundo de la blogosfera gracias al aprendizaje que han recibido en su aula con el profesor que les acompañaba, padres muy involucrados en la educación de sus hijos y compañeros, profesores con grandes y profundas reflexiones educativas que te hacen reflexionar a ti también. En fin, un lujo y un honor haber recibido un premio de profesionales de esta categoría.

Aquí os dejo un pequeño resumen del estupendo día junto a Jesús Sánchez Dorrosoro, que me acompañó al evento como Director del instituto.

"The Mirrors' Social News", our collaborative digital newspaper

               

El periódico digital “ The Mirrors' Social News” se enmarca dentro del proyecto Pole (potenciación de lenguas extranjeras en el que como centro participamos desde 2013). La idea surgió como una actividad interdisciplinar entre dos profesoras de los departamentos de Inglés y de Geografía e Historia -Beatriz Navarro e Isabel Mariñosa, que compartimos la enseñanza de varias clases de 3º de ESO. Los objetivos que nos planteamos incialmente fueron objetivos transversales tales como la mejora en las siguientes competencias:

· Competencia de la información y digital: actualización y reflexión personal sobre acontecimientos sociales y políticos de la actualidad y de su localidad. Búsqueda de información en fuentes objetivas y fidedignas

· Trabajar la competencia comunicativa en lengua extranjera ( inglés)

· Elaborar  diferentes textos y géneros periodísticos: noticias y artículos de opinión.

· El fomento del trabajo colaborativo y en equipo.

Las ventajas que hemos encontrado al plantear la actividad como un proyecto colaborativo han sido numerosas. Por una parte nuestro papel como profesoras ha sido más “secundario”, en el sentido de haber actuado de guías del trabajo de los alumnos, verdaderos protagonistas de la elaboración del periódico. A los temas propuestos inicialmente se fueron incorporando sugerencias y nuevas propuestas que no han hecho sino que enriquecer la actividad. La mayor parte de los alumnos han contribuido con su mejor aportación y así hemos descubierto fantásticos dibujantes, críticos, comentaristas o traductores. A esto debemos añadir el aprendizaje de haber llevado a cabo esta interesante herramienta TIC con un gran potencial educativo y didáctico que esperamos mejorar y ampliar el curso que viene. Queremos agradecer desde aquí la ayuda de Rosa Garza, la Colaboradora TIC de los centros de profesores de Zaragoza, y a la que los profesores de Secundaria podemos acudir en la formación y práctica del manejo de herramientas TIC que facilitan y dinamizan nuestra actividad docente.
